“Jez siwer mal nit uf irgenduma Tschuggu” – this time it’s actually true: we’re in Munich, down in the “flatlands”.
So what is Tschuggu doing so far away from the mountains? Sampling Leberkäse sandwiches*? Can Tschuggu ever get enough of the mountains? Of course not. But enjoying the mountains also means having the right equipment – and we want you to experience your tours with the best gear possible.
That’s why we travelled to Munich.
What are Performance Days?
The Performance Days in Munich are an international trade fair dedicated to functional fabrics and accessories for sports and outdoor clothing. Designers, product developers, buyers and material experts from across the industry come together here to discover new materials and connect with manufacturing partners.
The focus is on innovative, sustainable and high-performance fabrics for sportswear – exactly what we’re looking for for the next Tschuggu collection.
What makes a great outdoor shirt?
A comfortable shirt – what we would call a gäbigs Triggi – sounds simple at first. But what does “comfortable” really mean?
In the mountains you’re constantly on the move. Sometimes at a relaxed pace, sometimes pushing hard enough that sweat runs down your back. In those moments, a good shirt should:
be highly breathable
wick moisture away quickly
dry fast
absorb as little odor as possible
Because nothing is more uncomfortable than a shirt that sticks to your body or no longer feels fresh after a long day on the trail.
Maybe you’re even out in the mountains for several days. In that case, it’s ideal if you can quickly wash your shirt in the evening and let it dry overnight so it’s ready to wear again the next morning.
And of course, a great shirt should also last for many years. It gets washed, worn, washed again – and should still accompany you on countless mountain adventures.
Ideally featuring the design of your favorite mountain.
Our goal: the next Tschuggu shirt collection
That’s exactly why we’re visiting the Performance Days in Munich.
We’re looking for the best fabrics and the right production partners for our next Tschuggu shirt collection. Materials that are:
functional and durable
comfortable to wear
breathable and quick-drying
produced as sustainably as possible
and ideally manufactured regionally
In short: fabrics for a truly great outdoor shirt for your mountain adventures.
A surprise in Munich’s “flatlands”
Among all the fabrics and conversations, we also came across a small surprise.
Right at the entrance to Munich’s large exhibition center – near the Messe lake – we discovered a relief featuring several mountain peaks. And right there in the “flatlands”, we even spotted some of our favorite mountains.
Including, of course, our beloved Bietschhorn from Valais.

Your ideas for future Tschuggu shirts
Our visit to Performance Days is an important step toward the next Tschuggu collection. We want to develop shirts that accompany you perfectly on your mountain tours – functional, durable and inspired by the mountains you love.
Do you have wishes, ideas or suggestions for our shirts?
Feel free to write to us. Your feedback might even become part of the next collection.
*What is a Leberkäse sandwich?
It’s a slice of Bavarian meat loaf (Leberkäse) served in a bread roll, typically with sweet or medium-spicy mustard.
